ALN

ALN Rights

At St Mary’s RC Primary School we work, pray, share and learn together in a supportive environment in partnership with parents and parish to ensure that each child develops academically, spiritually, physically and socially. Children are valued as individuals and encouraged to strive for self-improvement whilst remaining sensitive to the needs of others. Every child and family in our community is valued and diversity is celebrated.

Our school is staffed by a team of qualified teachers and teaching assistants who provide a broad and balanced curriculum in a safe, stimulating and caring environment. All areas of school life are inclusive and the teaching is tailored towards individual learning providing challenge and support; encouraging everyone to reach their full potential.

We have a duty to provide appropriate ALN provision for children and young people in order to meet their needs. It is also our duty to ‘make reasonable adjustments for disabled children and young people, to support medical conditions and to inform parents and young people if ALN provision is made for them.’

Under the ALNET (Wales) Act, every school must have an ALNCo – an Additional Learning Needs Co-ordinator. In St Mary’s our ALNCo are:

  • Mrs J Gurmin
  • Mrs D Hawkins
  • Mrs F Evans

If you have any questions, please come in to school for a conversation with our ALNCos.
